Letter of Inquiry Guidelines

The Chur Family Foundation provides charitable donations to 501c(3) certified organizations located predominantly in the Western New York region. The goal of the foundation gifts is to help disadvantaged adults and children with basic daily living needs and services. The distribution decisions for foundation funds are guided by the following definition of basic needs and services:

  • Food and Shelter
  • Education and Cultural Advantages
  • Job Opportunities
  • Health Care Services
  • Social Services
  • Human Rights Promotion and Protection
  • Emergency Disaster Relief

If you believe your organization’s grant request meets the criteria listed above, you are welcome to submit a Letter of Inquiry to the Chur Family Foundation.

Deadlines for Letters of Inquiry for the next cycle are listed above.

Your Letter of Inquiry should be brief but contain the following pertinent information and should be a maximum of three pages:

  • A brief history and description of your organization including a mission statement, size, and composition of your workforce; the constituency and geographic area served; and the types of services provided.
  • A brief description of your grant program objectives and anticipated outcomes.
  • The total amount of grant request.
  • How your grant request meets the mission goals of the Chur Family Foundation described above.
  • Proof of IRS 501(c)(3) status or the equivalent for international applications.
  • Name, address, phone number, and email address of primary contact for your grant request.

Letters of Inquiry will be reviewed by the Chur Family Foundation board members. Organizations will receive either a grant application invitation or declination by the deadline. Grant applications are by invitation only.

Completed Letters of Inquiry and any questions regarding our grant process should be sent to Deborah Urbank, Executive Director.
